National Parks

While there are no national parks within the county, there are a few national monuments and other notable natural areas nearby. Here are some of the national monuments and significant natural areas within a reasonable distance of Blaine County: Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve: Located approximately 85 miles southeast of Blaine County, Craters of the Moon is a unique geological area characterized by vast lava flows, cinder cones, and volcanic formations. Sawtooth National Recreation Area: Situated northeast of Blaine County, the Sawtooth NRA covers a large expanse of scenic mountains, alpine lakes, and diverse wildlife. It offers excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument: Located about 70 miles southwest of Blaine County, Hagerman Fossil Beds is home to a significant paleontological site with fossils of ancient horses, saber-toothed cats, and other Ice Age species.
